Meet Joe Childs · Eastside Co-owner & Manager
I am married to Jennifer and have 4 kids, Matthew, Rachel, Kathryn and Benjamin. I started bowling in 1980 just for fun, I joined a kids league in 1985 and since then have taken it more and more seriously. I bowled up in Howell for a year and then returned to the Jackson area bowling at various houses. In 2001 I started a bowling ball resurfacing business out of my home where I replaced grips, resurfaced, polished, sanded and oil extracted bowling balls mainly as a service to mid to lower average bowlers at a fair price. Eventually, my interest turned into a passion, I wanted to learn all I could about the game and about bowling balls. In the 2004-2005 season I had a career season, in November 2004 I rolled my first 300 game followed by December 2004 with my first 299 game and in January 2005 I rolled my first 800 series with an 822.

In 2005, I made an offer on Suburban Lanes bowling alley. Unfortunately it did not pan out, but the passion to be apart of the bowling industry was still there. In the spring of 2006, Ron Daniels (owner of Suburban Lanes) approached me on opening a Pro Shop. It has always been a dream of mine to own my own business especially in the bowling industry, so to me this was a no brainer. So in August of 2006, we partnered up to open Eastside Pro Shop
